French learning experience around Shau Kei Wan

Bonjour Kellett School!

We (the year 8 French students) made these videos to show what we have learnt about the city and the different places during our last French topic. On a Friday afternoon we filmed around Shau Kei wan. We had written a script before then which we had to not only memorize but get the pronunciation right as well.

We had two themes in which we had to divide our class. One Half of the class had to:
-Ask for directions and follow the itinerary in a role play.

Where as the other half had to:
-Present different shops in Shau Kei Wan.
Both the videos ended up in the MTR Station.

For non French speakers, you may find it hard to understand, but I’m afraid that we don’t have english subtitles! You can watch both of them on the school website

It was a lot of fun and it was a really good learning experience!

Au revoir.

What's an Ipod Touch doing in the Chinese class?

Y7 and Y8 students had their experience with using Ipod Touch to

1. write Chinese characters with correct stroke orders

2. learn 40 most frequently used Chinese radicals (character root)

3. make use of new and commonly used technology to enhance learning experience

Students used the English to Chinese dictionary application called KTdict C-E from Apple Apps Store. They wrote Chinese characters on the screen and allow the Ipod Touch to recognise their handwriting.

With the English to Chinese dictionary App, students could easily search using Chinese characters, the search results include Chinese Pinyin with tone marks, both simplified and traditional characters and the English meanings.
